Honorary Consulate of Georgia is planned to be opened in Kharkiv Honorary Consulate of Georgia in Kharkiv is planned to be opened in 2013.
 
It was informed about by the consul general of Georgia in Donetsk – Zurab Kvachadze, who came to Kharkiv with working visit.
 
As a part of his visit Zurab Kvachadze met with Kharkiv city mayor Gennadiy Kernes. During the meeting the sides discussed the questions of further cooperation between Kharkiv and twin-cities Kutaisi and Tbilisi and the conditions of Georgian diaspora in Kharkiv. 
 
"Last year Georgia introduced its entrant for the honorary consul of Georgia in Kharkiv and we hope that all the procedures set by Ukrainian legislature will be observed and this year we will open the honorary consulate. It is very important for us as we have perspectives and plans what requires us to have honorary consulate here," - consul general of Georgia in Donetsk emphasized.
 
He specified that Kharkiv has close contacts at a regional level with Georgian cities and all the previously signed agreements will be observed. Currently most efficient is subscription of two-sided cooperation annual plans and task definition of the cities. Georgia plans to cooperate with Kharkiv in educational, economic and humanitarian spheres.
 
Consul general also emphasized that one of the biggest Georgian diasporas in Ukraine lives in Kharkiv.
 
The meeting was also attended by the director of  International Cooperation Department - Viktor Rud, the deputy of the regional council - David Chikhladze and the city council deputy Olexandra Chikhladze, whose candidacy for the post of Honorary Consul of Georgia in Kharkiv was earlier proposed by Georgian side.
