The City Council, together with international organizations, continues to work on the creation of an updated Master Plan of Kharkiv which will include architectural solutions, spatial development of the City, and its new economic model.
As Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov noted at a meeting of the UN4Kharkiv and UN4Mykolaiv working groups today, February 21, experts from the Norman Foster Foundation, a Berlin-based engineering company, and local specialists are involved in this work. Additional meetings are also held periodically with local and international experts in transportation, energy, damage assessment, communications, economic recovery, and cultural heritage reconstruction.
Ihor Terekhov emphasized the importance of planning Kharkiv’s future now. According to him, clear plans will help with the search for partners and investors for the further reconstruction of the City.
‘Today, we already have a preliminary conceptual vision of Kharkiv’s development as a City of the future with innovative technologies in all spheres of life,’ the Mayor emphasized.
He thanked the participants of the meeting and the experts who have been developing the new concept together for more than seven months.
Today, the latest developments of the UN4Kharkiv and UN4Mykolaiv working groups were presented, and the next steps were discussed. The meeting was attended by representatives of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, the Norman Foster Foundation, and other international organizations.
