A new transportation system is being developed in Kharkiv A new transportation system is being created in the Master Plan of the City of Kharkiv.

This was announced today, February 3, at a press meeting on proposals to amend the Master Plan by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

According to him, the City authorities are actively cooperating with the European Investment Bank to assess the destruction of the transport sector especially electric transport in order to restore and create new electric transport routes, purchase rolling stock and implement the green city development vector in the future.

Ihor Terekhov also said that transport specialists, together with the engineering company ARUP, engaged by British architect Norman Foster, are working on creating pedestrian streets in the historic part of the City, developing bicycle routes, underground and multi-level parking lots.

In addition, the Mayor noted that the development of the inner ring route of Kharkiv is already underway to ensure the diversion of transit traffic from the city center and its unloading.

‘The concept of the new transport model that will be proposed is extremely important as it is a framework for amending the Master Plan of the City of Kharkiv. This year we will present our proposals to Kharkiv residents for their involvement and recommendations,’ said Ihor Terekhov.
