About 400 foreign fans rode the children’s railway

Hundreds of foreign tourists visited Small Southern railway during the UEFA EURO 2012.

Southern Railway website informed about it. «We have prepared to welcome guests of the championship beforehand. We have posted English name plates; all the announcements of the route were voiced in two languages – English and Ukrainian», - the head of the railway station told.

Young railway workers communicated in English with Dutch, German, Polish, China and Croatian tourists who visited the station during EURO 2012. Generally about 400 people rode the Small Southern railway during the championship days in Kharkiv. Welcoming hosts presented badges, postcards and other souvenirs to the tourists.

«We have nothing similar to your children’s railway, - the visitor from the Netherlands, Karel said. - Dutch children don’t drive the trains, even small ones, though they might dream about it. It is very impressive and I would like my son to see all this».
