Days of Lviv in Kharkiv were opened on the 16th of September in front of Kharkiv national Opera and Ballet theatre named by M.V. Lysenko.
Beginning of the ceremony was marked by choreographic composition “Greeting of Slobozhanshchina” by the theatre of folk dancing “Zapovit”.
There were present the deputy of the mayor of Kharkiv Igor Terekhov, a head of Kharkiv regional state administration Mikhail Dobkin, a head of Kharkiv regional council Sergey Chernov, a head of Lviv regional administration Mikhail Tsymbalyuk, a deputy of the mayor of Lviv Vasyl Kosiv present at the ceremony of opening.
Igor Terekhov greeted all the participants of the ceremony .on behalf of the mayor of Kharkiv Gennadiy Kernes. “It is a holyday indeed, because our friends came to visit us, and here they are going to present their native Lviv. Kharkiv is the best city, the city of happiness, the city of love, we are proud of it and we would like to show it to our friends from Lviv. We are thankful to people of Lviv for their initiative to spend the Days of Lviv in our city. And we are glad to answer the proposal to make the Days of Kharkiv in Lviv” – the deputy of the mayor of Kharkiv admitted.
«I want you to consider this day as our sincere invitation to Lviv. We love our cities, we know they are the best, but we do not visit each other often. Today I have such a possibility to invite you to be our guests. And we will be glad to visit you again and again”, - the deputy of the mayor of Lviv Vasyl Kosiv added. .
During the ceremony the symbol of Lviv was presented to kharkovites as a gift from people of Lviv. It is a sculpture of lion painted by a student of Lviv academy of Arts Tatiana Tsupka.
«It Is not good to visit people with empty hands, that is why we give this gift from people of Lviv to people of Kharkiv. It is a fragment of one of Lviv festivals where the best artists of a city paint and color the sculptures. These lions are unique. They are not like each other, they are pieces of Art. And such a piece of Art we present as a gift to kharkovites today”, - the deputy of the mayor of Lviv Vasyl Kosiv admitted during the ceremony of opening.
