Kharkiv Paralympic sportsmen were honoured in Constitution square

Kharkiv Paralympic sportsmen, who came back to the city today, were honoured in Constitution square.

The deputy mayor in family, youth and sports questions – Oleksandr Popov and the deputy chairperson of Kharkiv regional state administration Eugene Savin came to welcome the sportsmen.

«You are the honor of Kharkiv, the honor of our country. On behalf of the city mayor Gennadiy Kernes I want to thank you for your work and for the pleasure to support you», - Oleksandr Popov emphasized. He also wished them further achievements and to become an example for other sportsmen.

Besides, the deputy of the city mayor informed that the President Of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych will receive them on Monday. The sessions of city and regional councils will uphold a decision on the reward of sportsmen.

Creative team of Kharkiv state academy of physical training and the participants of the third season of TV project «Mydance» performed for the Paralympic sportsmen on the square.

Totally Kharkiv sportsmen brought home 6 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals. The swimmer Maksim Veraksa won three gold medals and one bronze medal. Natalia Prologaeva brought home three gold and one silver medal. Antonina Khodzynska won silver medal in table tennis. Also one silver medal was taken by Yana Berezhna in swimming. Two more bronze medals were brought by volleyball player Inna Osetynska and swimmer Oleksandr Golovko.

Totally Ukrainian national team won 32 gold, 24 silver and 28 bronze medals what is equal to 84 awards. Ukraine took the fourth place in team overall victory.
