The streets of new Kharkiv territory will be named after sportsmen, artists and writers

Municipal toponymic committee affirmed the name of the streets located on the new territory adjoined to Kharkiv boundaries.

There are 149 names of streets, side streets and squares. A lot of them remained unchanged, but the range of the streets that had the same name got new names.

In particular 25 streets will receive names of historical events, names of Heroes of Soviet Union, heroes of labor, sportsmen, artists and architects, political figures and former mayors, scientists, cultural figures and outstanding writers.

As a result, out of 180 existent streets in the result of adjoining will remain 149 streets, side streets and driveways.

The list of new streets will be agreed on the upcoming session of Kharkiv city council.
