Kharkiv has sent humanitarian aid to the earthquake-affected residents of Gaziantep (Turkey).
More than 22 tons of humanitarian aid was sent today, February 20. Representatives of Kharkiv enterprises and the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the collection of long-term storage products, baby food, hygiene products, warm clothes, and heaters.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov noted that Gaziantep, whose authorities supported Kharkiv residents during the full-scale war, was one of the cities most affected by the earthquake.
‘Two weeks ago, there was a powerful earthquake in Turkey which severely affected the residents of Kharkiv’s sister City, Gaziantep. I talked to the mayor of Gaziantep at the beginning of the war, and the City authorities supported us a lot, and now it is time to help our friends. Today, this important humanitarian aid will be sent to Turkey,’ emphasized Ihor Terekhov.
It should be noted that the cooperation agreement between Kharkiv and Gaziantep was signed on April 15, 2011. All these years, the Cities have been working together and developing sister city relations, and in May 2022, Gaziantep sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine and Kharkiv.
