A competition for the Cup of Mayor of Kharkiv on martial arts passed on the 4th of November in SC “Lokomotiv”.
The deputy of the mayor of Kharkiv on the issues of family, sports and youth and preparing to EURO-2012 Alexander Popov opened the tournament.
“I am honored to open this competition of the name of the mayor of Kharkiv Gennady Kernes. Those who watched the tournament “Warrior Honor” know that the fights have always been uncompromised and the number of famous sportsmen all over the world passed through the tournament. It says that “Warrior Honor” is one of the strongest and the most popular tournaments in CIS”, - Alexander Popov noticed.
The tournament passed according to the rules of mixed fights (MMA). World and Europe champions on Thai boxing, combat sambo, Pankration, catch style, close fight and kickboxing entered the “octangle”.
The kahrkovite Eugene Fomenko (category under 84 kg) overcame the awardee of the World Championship on universal combat Pavel Katrunov pf Belarusin the first fight and overcame the Pankration World Champion Murad Kamilov of Russia in the final fight. As a result Eugene Fomenko won the Cup of the Mayor of Kharkiv.
The second Cup of the Mayor, but in the category over 93 kg, the awardee of the World Cup on combat sambo kharkovite Eugene Boldyrev, who overcame the Ukraine Champion on Pankration Eugene Babych of Chernigiv. Before that in semi-final Eugene Boldyrev overcame Tadas Mitseyka from Lithuania and Eugene Babych won the moskovite Salimgerey Rasulov.
