Today, January 10, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock visited the City of Kharkiv.
During the visit, Annalena Burbock met with Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov. The Minister visited the City center as well as the districts that have been subjected to the most severe shelling by the russian army. Ihor Terekhov emphasized the importance of this visit for Kharkiv.
‘It shows the courage and strength of Madam Minister, because despite the danger, she visits Kharkiv. It shows the whole world that we are not alone, that we have reliable partners. And this inspires us even more to defeat the enemy,’ the Mayor emphasized.
Ihor Terekhov also noted that Kharkiv residents are grateful for the support that the German government and people have provided and continue to provide to Ukraine. In particular, the Mayor thanked for the humanitarian aid from the sister city of Nuernberg.
‘The destruction that Madam Minister saw was shocking. These were Northern Saltivka, the Industrialnyi District that we have visited. Of course, it is horrifying. We need political and military assistance today. That’s what we were talking about today,’ Ihor Terekhov told reporters.
It should be noted that this is the first visit of international guests of this level to Kharkiv since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
