On the base of Kharkiv maternity hospital №6 works the first in Ukraine municipal consulting and diagnostic center of medical help to children in utero.
The head doctor of the maternity hospital Larisa Nazarenko informed of this at the out meeting of the constant commission on issues of social help and health care of Kharkiv city council.
She noticed that a fetus diagnostics is made with a help of fetoscope, which was bot for the hospital on the costs of the city budget in December of 2010. The device helps to define the prenatal anemia, problems of certain kinds of multi-fetus pregnancy, and it also allows to diagnose and bypass anomalies of development of kidneys and lounges.
“Last year we conducted diagnostics only, but since this year we are able to use minimally invasive surgery, which means that we are able to cure the child’s pathology in utero. Also due to biochemical analyses we are able to define Down syndrome of the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy, the head doctor of the maternity hospital №6 admitted.
There were five researches with fetoscope conducted this year.
Also Larisa Nazarenko informed that six years ago the first prenatal psychologist appeared in the maternity hospital.
