A four years old boy of Zaporizhzhya region David Fatullayev was transported by mobile intensive care unit to burn center of Kharkov city clinical hospital of first and emergency aid named by professor O.I. Meshchaniniv.
On the 31st of July he got burns of 40% of the body surface at a fire at hayloft in Plodorodnoye village of Mikhailovsky district. For ten days David had been staying in emergency state in burn department of the 5th city hospital of Zaporizhzhya. Last evening he was brought to Kharkiv.
As the director of the Department of health care of Kharkiv city council Yuriy Sorocolat informed, mother of the boy who had known of High class burn center in Kharkov asked the mayor of Kharkiv Gennadiy Kernes for help.
“The municipal power responded the asking because it was a question of child’s lifeand here, in Kharkiv, we have all the necessary conditions. By now we have done everything possible to help the boy’s life salvation and to cure him. Besides that he is completely provided with special food made by the City milk kitchen-factory of children’s food”, - Yuriy Sorokolat admitted.
As the combustiologist of the burn center Valeriy Kim who accompanied David from Zaporizhzhya to Kharkiv informed the state of the boy is stable and hard. “David has the burns of the third degree mainly. His back and the back surface of the legs suffered. There is a threat for the life of such a small boy, because the burn deseas is not just a skin burn but a problem of the entire body, all the organs and systems suffer. The boy has had pneumonia already. I think his stable and hard state will be continued for two weeks at least. But there is a perspective to cure him”, the specialist of the burn center informed.
The doctors have removed part of necroses on David’s body and they are planning to transfer him into the children department from the intensive care. As Valeriy Kim informed if the cure is successful next week the doctors will be able to make the surgery on skin cover renovating.
Information. On the 31st of July in Plodorodnoye village of Mikhaylovsky district of Zaporozhsky region a three years old girl died at the fire at the hayloft. Four years old David Fatullayev was saved. The neighbours saw the fire above the hayloft and tried to put the fire out by themselves but failed. David answered the shouts of adults and his grandmother saved him of fire. The neighbour transported the child to the intensive care department of the district hospital where the doctors stated the burns of 40% of the body surface. Next day the boy was transported to the burn department to Zaporizhzhya.
The burn center of Kharkiv city clinical hospital of first and emergency aid named by professor O.I. Meshchaniniv has been working since 1978. after its reorganization in 2008 the center received new premises and new equipment. A laboratory of growing the skin cover works at the center, plastic surgery services after burns are provided. Kharkiv burn center is one of three the best burn center of Ukraine together with Kiev and Donetsk centers.
