Geographicposition

Varna is situated on the shore of the Black sea, deep in Varna valley. Due to its geographic location Varna became a city between Europe and Asia indeed. About 35% of import and 50% of export of Bulgaria go through Varna.
 
Economics

Today Varna I sthe third on size city of Bulgaria after Sofia and Plovdiv. It is considered to be a sea capital of Bulgaria and is a big administrative, industry cultural and tourist center. There is a developed system of city transport in resort zones and suburbs, an international airport, railway station and marina, a widely spread net of shops, fuel stations help to increase amount of students all over the world. There are leading branches of Bulgarian economics concentrated in Varna region, such as machinery, ship building, chemical industry, sea and air transport, food and cunsomer industry.  
 
Historical sights, culture, sports and spare time.

There is annual international music festival “Varna Summer” hold in the city, the International conquest of ballet dancers, International chorus festival, the World festival of Red Cross, International festival of Animation.

Education

More than 20% of Varna population are the students who study at five universities, Institute of Business, Politechnical, Medical Institutes, college of international tourism, maritime academy.
 
Twin cities relationship

The treaty of relations between Kharkiv and Varna and was signed on the 25th of August of 1995.

During this period of time profitable exchanges in cultural, economics and tourism areas: In August of 1996 th echildren dance troop of Varna took part in Ukrainian folk festival in Kharkiv: in April of 1998 the delegation of Trade and Industry Chamber of Varna visited Kharkiv and the Treaty of cooperation between the Trade and Industry Chambers of Varna and Kharkiv were signed: In October of 1999 the official delegation of Varna community visited Kharkiv to learn the activity of cultural and educational organizations and negotiate about exchange: In April of 1999 tree touristic companies of Varna took part in the International touristic salon in Kharkiv; In May of 1999 the works of young artists of Varna Art School were presented at the exhibition of the Art Fest Biennale “Fom 5 to 10”
